Rita knows pay inequity is a crucial issue for Texas women and families.
Rita knows if the annual wage gap were eliminated, on average, a working woman in Texas would have enough money for:
More than 15 additional months of child care;
One additional year of tuition and fees for a four-year public university, or the full cost
of tuition and fees at a two-year community college;
Approximately 78 more weeks of food for her family (one and a half years’ worth);
Nearly seven more months of mortgage and utilities payments; or
More than 10.5 additional months of rent.
As our next State Senator, Rita will push for an equal pay law in Texas. Because she knows when women succeed—families succeed.
